When: Sun., Oct. 23 2016
Sunday Streets Berkeley, now in its fifth year, invites people to play in and use their streets in a new way. With a focus on sustainability, alternative transportation, community, and small business, this placemaking celebration takes place Oct. 23rd on Shattuck Ave for 17 blocks from Rose Street to Haste Street. Local businesses and organizations host interactive activities and demos - try electric and custom bikes, dance and do yoga classes in the street, learn about beekeeping and composting, listen to live music and enjoy special menus at local eateries. Companion events include Salsa Sundays on Center and the Vine St. Block Party. Sunday Streets Berkeley is presented by the City of Berkeley, Walk Oakland Bike Oakland, the North Shattuck Association, the Downtown Berkeley Association, and Livable Berkeley in association with the Office of Mayor Tom Bates, East Bay Bicycle Coalition, & Ecology Center.
