The Oakland Builders Alliance, a pro-development group led by local lobbyist Carlos Plazola, is presenting an evening with mayoral candidate Don Perata at the restored Fox Theater tomorrow night. According to the blog, Oaklandliving.com, the event is entitled “An Eye on the Oakland Mayor’s Race,” and will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It’s not surprising that the builders’ alliance is hosting Perata, considering that he arguably has been the most pro-development politician in the East Bay for many years. In fact, developers have bankrolled several of his political campaigns. And it looks as if Plazola and the builders’ alliance are placing an early bet on Perata becoming the next mayor. PG&E and Architectural Dimensions also are reportedly co-sponsoring the festivities.
