Students Take Brunt of Budget Crisis

Nice piece in today's Chron about the impact of the state budget crisis on community college students. As it reports, programs such as Medi-Cal and Cal Grants will have lost up to $12 billion if the impasse continues through the rest of the month, and some 86,000 students who depend on financial aid will see their academic future seriously jeopardized. Chron reporters focus on the East Bay's Diablo Valley College as a typical school: too focused on its own struggling finances to help students who suddenly find themselves broke.
