Spiritsong: A Benefit Performance for the Ruby Bridges School

Sat., Jan. 24 2015
(510) 337-7028
The fifth-graders at Ruby Bridges elementary, in their annual benefit performance, are well aware of the obstacles they face in being able to have the same opportunities as some of their contemporaries. They will attempt to raise $20,000 dollars to attend a three-day education-centered camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains. For many of these students, it will be their first time out of city-limits.

The range of performers will include: traditional Japanese drumming group, Kaji Yama Taiko Drummers; a Hawaiian dance troupe and premier vocal group, the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. The lineup is a reflection of the diversity of the student body, as well as the commonalities they share.
