SomArts Cultural Center

Founded in 1979, this city-owned gallery and concert space is one of four Community Cultural Centers managed by SF’s Community Arts and Education Program. The gallery is located in a brick, ivy-festooned building on Brannan Street, open Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. Most live shows and music events take place in a back auditorium, which has high ceilings, rafters to alleviate some of the echo, and a huge floor ideal for breakdancing. Available for private parties.
