Solano Stroll

When: Sun., Sept. 12, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. 2010

Albany's main thoroughfare may be best known for its tree-shaded sidewalks and family-friendly feeling, but for 36 years running, it's also been home to the EastBay's biggest street festival. The Solano Stroll runs for eight hours, draws hundreds of thousands of people annually, and encompasses some 26 blocks spanning two cities. This year's parade, held on Saturday, Sept. 11, and themed "A Global A-Faire," features art cars, cultural and performance groups, and community organizations. Beyond that, expect over fifty food booths, 200 community organizations, and 150 juried arts and crafts vendors to take over the street for a massive block party complete with kids' activities, a "green zone," and more. Solano Ave between San Pablo Ave. and TheAlameda. 10 a.m.-6 p.m., free. SolanoAveAssn.Org
