Skyline 50K Endurance Run

When: Sun., Aug. 2, 7 a.m. 2009

Want to show August what you're made of? The first Sunday of the month is when one of the year's longest road races takes place. The annual Skyline 50K endurance run gets started at the Lake Chabot Marina (17600 Lake Chabot Rd., Castro Valley) on Sunday, Aug. 2, and goes, well, pretty much everywhere. The runners are part of a national Grand Prix series and have an eight-hour time limit, so if you show up at the starting line late, you'll have to be back by 3 p.m. if you want to see the stragglers. Awards will be given out to the top finishers in each age group, so let's not hear anything about how you're too tired when a 70-year-old runner is going the distance. 7 a.m., $95 race-day registration.
