Sketches of Oakland

When: Nov. 16-19 2017

From East Oakland to Rockridge, Temescal to Uptown, Oakland’s neighborhoods can seem as distinct as separate cities. Savage Jazz Dance Company will pay tribute to The Town and all of its creativity and diversity with Sketches of Oakland, a new work by founder and artistic director Reginald Ray-Savage. The performance will include new works by composer Leslie La Barre, performed by live musicians, plus visual art by Kaya Fortune. Along with dance students from the Oakland School for the Arts, Savage Jazz Dance Company will explore the “triumphs and tragedies of its hometown.”
