That's sure to be the debate in the coming days in weeks in the wake of a fatal shooting of a Berkeley grandmother by a city police officer over the weekend. According to the Oakland Tribune, several East Bay police agencies use Tasers, including Oakland, Livermore, Pleasanton, Fremont, and Union City but not Berkeley. Tasers shoot off a strong electronic jolt, and cops use them to subdue unruly and dangerous suspects. If Berkeley police Officer Rashawn Cummings had a Taser, 51-year-old Anita Gay might still be alive.
