When: Feb. 22-March 16 2008

Billed as a West Coast-Vancouver exchange, this year's inaugural show at LoBot Gallery (1800 Campbell St., Oakland) features architectural installations that "compress" ideas of domestic, industrial, and military space, said artist-in-residence Ross Campbell. Called Shape, the exhibit features Gibson Cuyler's paper camera obscura, Whitney Lynn's army bunkers (actually pillows stuffed with sand), and Eliza Ferdinand's fabric portal. Ferdinand will do a performance piece at a reception this Friday, Feb. 22, from 6 to 10 p.m. It pretty much defies description, though Campbell assured the piece will involve a fabric costume and will "have a lot to do with gesture and human behavior." Shape runs through March 16.
