The 17th Annual SF Sketchfest lineup is comically large, spread across 200 shows in 16 venues throughout the city. There are big names like Ricky Gervais, Jane Lynch, Bill Burr, Maria Bamford, Fred Armisen, and David Wain alongside a slew of up-and-comers in a mix of conversations, stand-up showcases, improv sets, live podcast recordings, quirky game shows, and more. Special events include tributes to television shows Twin Peaks, Rocko’s Modern Life, and Animaniacs, as well as the 40th anniversary of the movie Animal House. Musical comedy lovers will have a host of events to choose from, including riffs on a classic ’80s flick and full performances of numerous Wes Anderson movie soundtracks. Of particular interest to some alt-weekly readers is sex columnist Dan Savage, who will appear in two shows. While there are some free events and workshops as much as $75, most tickets cost between $15 and $30.
