Scott H. Biram

When: Sat., Nov. 19, 9:30 p.m. 2011

Scott H. Biram performs as a one-man band, possibly because no sane musician will get on stage with him. His ferocious energy raises many interesting questions: Is he singing or shrieking, playing guitar or exorcising demons, producing songs or unleashing bipolar street corner rants? Briam's music is country, marinated in blues, metal, punk, boogie, and his own sweat and blood. His performance unspools like the terrifying, arm-flapping, apocalyptic visions of an insane preacher, building up to some unnamed and unattainable release that's expressed in long, throat-ripping screams and relentless foot-stomping rhythms. He plays at Bottom of the Hill (1233 17th St., San Francisco) on Saturday, Nov. 19. 9:30 p.m., $12. BottomoftheHill.com
