Santa's Arrival

When: Fri., Nov. 27, 11 a.m. 2009

Swing bands, string quartets, marching toy soldiers, steel drummers, mariachi bands, roaming carolers, and Santa Clauses will all descend on Bay Street Mall this holiday season, as business owners prepare for what will hopefully be another fruitful December — recession be damned. Kids get to make crafts or pose with Santa, while their parents explore one of the nicer retail nodes in the East Bay. Bay Street will also offer a special warm-coat drive and Salvation Army Giving Tree for those who equate the holidays with altruism and good will. The fun kicks off, appropriately, on Black Friday (Nov. 27), with a visit from Santa at 11 a.m. Events continue through Dec. 24.
