San Leandro Moves Forward with Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

The City of San Leandro went forward last night with the approval of at least one medical cannabis dispensary, according to Ashly McGlone, a Bay Area News Group reporter at the city council meeting Monday night.

The seeming victory for safe access comes amid turbulent times for California medical marijuana patients, especially in smaller cities.

Earlier this year, the California Supreme Court upheld a city's right to ban medical cannabis collectives distributing the drug for cash compensation in retail storefronts. Since then, a number of cities with moratoriums on dispensaries have proceeded with full-scale bans.

Not so in compassionate San Leandro, apparently. That's great news.

Last year, San Leandro's moratorium on dispensaries expired, after rolling moratoriums stretching back to 2010, reports state.
