When: Nov. 4-Dec. 4 2016
Tensions arise between two brothers, both free men of color, when one risks everything to help fugitive slaves escape on the Underground Railroad. Set in Kentucky, 1843, Safe House is a gripping story of love, freedom, and survival against impossible odds. Written by Keith Josef Adkins, Artistic Director of The New Black Fest in Brooklyn, NY, and directed by L. Peter Callender, Artistic Director of San Francisco's African-American Shakespeare Company.
“Adkins is as hard-hitting as he is poetic as he rejects the simplistic notion of a world painted in black and white, either racially or morally.” -Cincinnati.com
“Safe House is a play that haunts days after seeing it.” –Stage Door St. Louis
