Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World

Rated NR 103 minutes 2017

Ostensibly a tribute to such overlooked Native-American (and mixed) pop-music performers as Link Wray, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Jimi Hendrix, this explosively informative documentary also establishes meaningful cultural links between the indigenous people whose land was stolen and the people who were either enslaved or persecuted in the name of the USA. All that, plus it rocks. The sounds are as glorious and diverse as the reservations and neighborhoods from which they come. Written and directed by Catherine Bainbridge and Alfonso Maiorana (102 min., 2017, not rated)
