Richard Baum: "China Watcher: Confessions of a Peking Tom"

When: Mon., Feb. 6, 4 p.m. 2012

In China Watcher: Confessions of a Peking Tom, UCLA Political Science professor Richard Baum is your friendly, funny guide to post-revolutionary China, having been there and done a whole lot of that since his days at Cal in the 1960s. He's swiped intelligence documents, posed as a CCP sympathizer at a Hong Kong picnic, and gone toe-to-toe with all the other scholars of his stature. Baum speaks on Monday, Feb. 6, at the UC Berkeley Institute of East Asian Studies (2223 Fulton St., 6th floor, Berkeley). 4 p.m., free. 510-642-2809 or IEAS.Berkeley.edu
