In Vienna, an uncomplicated brothel bouncer (Johannes Krisch) falls in love with a Ukrainian prostitute (Irina Potapenko) and decides to finance their escape from the life by robbing a bank. Unfortunate choice of retirement schemes. Writer-director Götz Spielmanns meditatively-paced character study benefits from the acting of Krisch, Andreas Lust, and Ursula Strauss as the bouncer, a police officer, and the cops unfulfilled wife, respectively. Their comings and goings make even the hushed Austrian fields and forests seem hectic and full of impending disaster. If your taste in art films runs to studies of the art of chopping firewood, youre in for a treat (121 min.).
