Reggae Gold

When: Sat., Nov. 12, 10 p.m. 2011

Few nomadic DJ dance parties can boast a successful eight-year track record, and that's only one selling point of Reggae Gold. Another, more obvious one: It's one of the few exclusively reggae dance parties occurring regularly on both sides of the bay (as of now, at least). This month's second-Saturday edition happens at The New Parish (579 18th St., Oakland), a club known for its diverse programming, on Saturday, Nov. 12. It features sets by Daddy Rolo, Polo Moq'z, DJ Veyn, and I-Vier, all of whom have loads of street cred -- and staying power -- in the reggae scene. Expect high-energy sound systems, knit caps, bushily bearded men, dancehall mash-ups, and the fragrant, overpowering smell of patchouli. 10 p.m.; $10 with RSVP before 11 p.m., $15 thereafter.
