The men of Rebelution started playing reggae after they graduated from college in Santa Barbara, thinking it would be a good way to pass some time until they figured out a career path. They quickly moved from covers to original material and made music their vocation. Fifteen years later, with a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album — 2016’s Falling Into Place — under their belt, they’re is still going strong. Shortly after its release, their current album, Free Rein, hit #1 on Billboard’s Reggae Chart and they’re spending this summer touring some of America’s biggest venues. With a style that incorporates R&B, jazz, pop and rock, the band is expanding its audience, and its sound, while staying true to the bedrock grooves that originally inspired it. At the Greek it’ll be supported by the socially conscious tunes of Jamaica’s Protoje, the smooth soul sounds of Durand Jones & The Indications, and DJ Mackle.
