Rated PG 97 minutes 2018

Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman justice of the Supreme Court, has been fighting for equal rights and against sex discrimination all her adult life — and that adult life evidently began early in her childhood. This informative and ultimately encouraging documentary by longtime doc-makers Julie Cohen and Betsy West has the advantage of first-person participation by its subject, who is seen working out at the gym and appearing in TV talk shows. It gives us a glimpse as to why she is considered a brilliant proponent of civil rights as well as an eloquent moral authority, especially to her young-female-lawyer following. Also among her talking-head admirers: Gloria Steinem and Sen. Orrin Hatch (surprise!). Observes Ginsburg: “What has happened to me could only happen in America.” (97 min., 2018, rated PG)
