When: Tue., May 3, 8 p.m. 2011
For whatever reason, concerts featuring Mexican classical music remain rare. All the more reason to turn your ears toward Quinteto Latino, a local ensemble that focuses on music of Latin America and the Caribbean. Thanks to Berkeley Chamber Performances, the quintet brings us the neoclassical music of Carlos Chavez and rhythmic gems from Mario Lavista, Arturo Marquez, and good old Ms. Traditional. Head to Berkeley City Club (2315 Durant, Berkeley) on Tuesday, May 3 at 8 p.m. $25, high school students free, college students $12.50. 510-525-5211 or www.BerkeleyChamberPerform.org.
