Dance-Participatory, LGBT

When: Thu., Feb. 11, 7:30 p.m. 2010

QueerFest is commandeering CalStateUniversityEastBay this week, with events taking place all across campus. The theater department's salvo will be the Queer Dance Festival on Thursday, Feb. 11. Curated by Professor Eric Kupers, the interdepartmental production features student dancers and crew along with several of the Bay Area's finest artists, including Dandelion Dancetheater, Nina Haft & Company, Navarrete x Kajiyama Dance Theater, and Sean Dorsey. Reflecting the diverse interests and talents of the students, the bill includes dance styles from Argentine tango to modern and a range of music from traditional to experimental. Queer Dance hopes to become an annual must-see of lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender-specific dance, and a remedy to the loss of San Francisco's Lesbian and Gay Dance Festival. At the school's University Theatre (25800 Carlos Bee Blvd., Hayward). 7:30 p.m., free. 510-886-3261 or
