Purim Carnival

When: Sun., Feb. 28, 2 p.m. 2010

Living under Persian rule in the 6th century BCE, the Jewish people faced annihilation if the king had his way -- but were saved by his wife, brave Queen Esther, or so the story goes. This happy ending is celebrated every year at Purim; a Purim carnival at the Jewish Community Center of the East Bay (1414 Walnut St., Berkeley) on Sunday, Feb. 28, features songs, puppets, games, crafts, and a parade. 2 p.m., free.
