Poolside, aka Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise, couldn’t be more aptly named. The Los Angeles duo makes electronic music that’s breezy, light, and fun — “daytime disco,” as it calls itself — the sonic equivalent of a carefree day spent outside with a fizzy drink in hand. So although its upcoming DJ set at Mezzanine (444 Jessie St.) will be indoors, count on it to bring the heat with playful, groovy hits from the Seventies and Eighties. The opening acts — Vito & Druzzi, the drummer and multi-instrumentalist, respectively, of The Rapture; Tropicool, aka David La Melza, founder of the popular electronic music site GottaDanceDirty.com and self-described purveyor of “sun-kissed disco funk”; and DJ Dials, aka San Francisco producer Noah Bennett, who’ll perform at this year’s Noise Pop — are worth showing up early for.
