Pinball Tournament

When: Fri., Feb. 25, 7 p.m.-12 a.m. 2011

Whether it's attributable to retro nostalgia or simply an age-old impulse to knock balls around, pinball has experienced a marked resurgence in the East Bay as of late. Alameda's Pacific Pinball Museum now stands as one of the largest halls in the world, and according to a recent San Francisco Chronicle story, 2010 was the biggest year in recent memory for the Bay Area Pinball Association. On Friday, Feb. 25, The Stork Club (2330 Telegraph Ave., Oakland) gets into the game with a pinball tournament at which would-be pinball wizards - both experts and novices - are invited to try their hand at the game. Rockonicles, The Crutch, and Cleveland provide the soundtrack. 7 p.m.-midnight (registration for tournament closes at 8:30 p.m.); cover charge TBA. 510-444-6174 or StorkClubOakland.com
