It's a meditation on fermentation: Happy Girl Kitchen's pickling workshop on Saturday, Apr. 21, at the Big Blue Victorian (449 49th St., Oakland) focuses on fermenting carrots, beets, and other seasonal produce. It begins with a tasting and talk -- covering texture, flavor, botulism, and more -- then proceeds to hands-on preparation.
