Perfect partners for beer, pickles whet the appetite and slip nicely into sandwiches. A pickling workshop at Eat Better Feel Better (1015 Addison St., Berkeley) on Saturday, Jan. 15, covers the culturing of raw vegetables such as green beans, okra, radishes, cauliflower, carrots, and peppers with brine, garlic, mustard seed, and other spices. Class fee includes materials; participants can bring home a jar of pickles and instructions for making more. 2 p.m., $40.
