Tender, juicy, supple flesh is the prime attraction at this unpretentious rib joint just under the Shafter-MacArthur cloverleaf. Texas-style beef brisket, North Carolina pulled pork, and a quarter-chicken doused in house-made barbecue sauce are almost creamy in texture, while the brick-red hot links snap, crackle, and spice up your insides. The chewy tri-tip, however, is easily avoidable. Side dishes are mostly unimpressive (exception: the wonderfully tangy potato salad), but don't skip the praline-like pecan pie or the blissful, buttery peach cobbler.
