Ex-state Senator Don Perata, who is running for mayor of Oakland, told the Chron over the weekend that he feels vindicated by the fact that he has not yet been charged with taking bribes or kickbacks. “I look at that as vindication,” the senator told columnists Phil Matier and Andrew Ross. And what about the fact that the FBI’s public corruption case against Perata is being reviewed currently by both the US Attorney’s Office in Sacramento and the Department of Justice in Washington DC? Guess Matier and Ross were too busy asking “Kumbaya” questions.
