Pendulum

When: Tue., Oct. 14, 8 p.m. 2008

While it seems that Aussie natives Pendulum never got the memo that drum 'n' bass is just so last millennium, it nonetheless executes its mastery over this once dormant strain of dance music on its latest outing In Silico. All those rave-ready nuances are in place -- the hyper tempos, Vocoder-flavored singing, and clattering rhythms -- but the difference here is that the sextet takes a similar crossover path to the electronica heavyweights of the last decade. The distorted vocals, psychedelic aura, and cacophony of "Different" makes it a hybridized second cousin to the Chemical Brothers' "Setting Sun" and Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up," while the opener "Showdown" sounds like the Offspring's Dexter Holland got lost at a Daft Punk recording session. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes and Glo Sticks to the Fillmore (1805 Geary Blvd., San Francisco) on Tuesday, Oct. 14. 8 p.m., $25. TheFillmore.com
