Paramore

When: Tue., Nov. 10, 7:30 p.m. 2009

When the Village Voice recently dubbed Hayley Williams of Paramore as being "emo's first female superstar," it was far from hyperbole given the meteoric rise the Tennessee quintet has experienced in five short years. Williams' lyrics explore feelings and relationships in an earnest way devoid of any whininess while the dual guitars of Josh Farro and Taylor York somehow channel aspects of dual guitar metal juggernaut Iron Maiden buried within a pop context. All this and more continues on the Rob Cavallo-produced third album Brand New Eyes, which reinforces the notion of Paramore being No Doubt's heir apparent minus the ska affectations. Any band that can write the quintessential curmudgeon anthem "For a Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic" can't be far from ascending to music greatness. Williams will continue her ascent to Stefani-like greatness with support from opening acts Paper Route and the Swellers on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Warfield Theatre (982 Market St., San Francisco). 7:30 p.m., $29.50-$32.
