Panhandle by Walter Halsey Davis, music by Ream and Sullivan

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Continues through Jan. 25 2015
Filled with intense drama, wry humor, and music alternately elegiac and joyful, Panhandle, by Emmy award-winning playwright and screenwriter Walter Halsey Davis, follows a farming community desperately trying to hold on amidst the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl.

Whereas The Grapes of Wrath concentrated on the travails of those who pulled up stakes and migrated West, Panhandle focuses on the tribulations of those who tried to stick it out.

Presented by Actors Ensemble at Live Oak Theatre, Berkeley, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., January 9th - 31st. Sundays at 2 p.m. on January 18th and 25th.
