Pacific Boychoir

When: Sun., May 29, 4 p.m. 2011

For those who lack either funds or fortitude for the Sunday matinee debut of San Francisco Opera's production of Wagner's Siegfried, the Pacific Boychoir provides a fitting alternative. Siegfried will be singing his tonsils out as the Bay Area boys unite with the Drakensberg Boys' Choir of South Africa and Yale University's all-male Whiffenpoofs for an afternoon of Mozart, American spirituals, and South African music. I don't know who thought this program up, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Flock to First Congregational Church (2345 Channing Way, Berkeley) on Sunday, May 29. 4 p.m., $16-$20. 510-652-4722 or PacificBoychoir.org
