Origins of Latin Jazz - the Cuban Melodic Rhythmic Connection and Rare Jazz Instrumental and Vocal Gems with Larry Vuckovich

Master jazz pianist and long-time veteran of the Bay Area jazz scene, Larry Vuckovich, returns to the CJC and presents the Origins of Latin Jazz melodies and rhythms. Cuba played a major role in both of these elements. La Habanera rhythm pattern was used in the 19th century by the French composer Bizet. Further on, combined with African rhythms and Cuban rhythmic and melodic elements, this music developed into a sophisticated jazz in influential form. Larry Vuckovich will bring out the music of famous Cuban composers such as Ernesto Lecuona and Osvaldo Farr├ęs.
