When: April 26-May 14 2011
"Dream reality. Be guided, opened, warned, inspired." If contemporary art sometimes strikes you as more analytical than imaginative, then Liminal Art Salon's show of "visionary art expressing the prophetic inner voice" curated by Cheja (quoted above), Jais Booth ("Quetzalcoatl"), and William Stoneham ("Lunar Entanglement"), may be what your unconscious is hankering for. Also featuring work by Christopher Castle ("San Ildefonso Spirit Dancer"), Doreen Coyne ("Untitled, Alchemy Series"), Carolyn Ferris ("Akashic Oracle Panels"), Joell Jones ("Calistoga"), and Sarah Theismann ("Untitled"), the show is a New Age tribal gathering for which Cheja's tree-friendly sculpture, "The Oracle Speaks," serves as centerpiece. Related performances are scheduled: live music by Isaac Noyes and Richard Quinn, snake dancing by Leema, and poetry reading by Cheja; a poetry workshop and Tarot readings are also available. Oracle runs through May 14 at Oakopolis Creativity Center (447 25th St., Oakland). 510-663-6920 or Oakopolis.org.
