Sending human astronauts into space is an expensive and complicated production. Thus arose NASA's idea of sending the next best thing, in Darwinian terms: Screening on Saturday, July 26 at the Alameda Free Library (1550 Oak St., Alameda), One Small Step: The Story of the Space Chimps is a 2003 documentary chronicling the 1961 orbits of now-largely-forgotten Ham and Enos -- and what became of them afterwards. 4 p.m. Ci.alameda.ca.us/library
