Even at age eighty, Jeanne Moreau is the picture of elegance. Shes the best thing about this otherwise routine Holocaust drama by Israeli director Amos Gitai (Kippur), about a preoccupied French professional man (Hippolyte Girardot) obsessed with uncovering the secret behind what happened to his mother (Moreau) and his late father in WWII France, when the Nazis rounded up his mothers parents Jewish immigrants from Russia. Girardot, Emmanuelle Devos, and Dominique Blanc perform their duties well as haunted 21st-century survivors, but the scenario by Gitai and two others from Jérôme Cléments book grows monotonous in its sadness. French title: Plus Tard (89 min.).
