OMCA Park Jam

When: Sat., July 21, 12-5 p.m. 2018

Right now, you can go to the Oakland Museum of California and see RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom, a really cool exhibit on how hip-hop has changed the cultural landscape of the world. If you want to see actual hip-hop performed live in the museum’s back garden, then be sure to check out the first-ever OMCA Park Jam, an all-ages event with food, drinks, DJ sets, turntable battles, and a live performance by hip-hop crew clipping. The group spits straight-forward bars over dissonant, experimental beats. People may recognize clipping. rapper Daveed Diggs from his numerous acting roles (Black-ish, Hamilton), not to mention his new movie Blindspotting. Other acts slated to perform include MADlines and Knuckle Neck Tribe, as well as some live graffiti by Refa-1. A ticket will also get you into the RESPECT exhibit anytime, even as late as its closing date, Aug. 12.
