Rated NR 98 minutes 2014

Totally absorbing narrative portrait of a young Palestinian man (played by first-time actor Adam Bakri) shows us what it’s like to live in the occupied West Bank. Hint: If you’re Palestinian you’re doomed from the start. Several times a day, Omar scales the Isolation Wall on various errands, and one night his errands get him in a world of trouble. Writer-director Hany Abu-Assad (Paradise Now) lays out the dramatic profile in matter-of-fact terms, with penetrating perfs by Bakri, Leem Loubany (Omar’s girlfriend Nadia), Eyad Hourani, and Samer Bisharat (Omar’s close friends). Something to think about (98 min.).
