Ode to the Onion, in Memorium

Famed humor newspaper is leaving San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Despite its hefty 530,000 national circulation and reports that certain markets (namely, Milwaukee, Madison, Minneapolis, Denver, Boulder) are growing, The Onion still had to downsize in light of the current economic slump. The bloodbath begins this week in San Francisco and Los Angeles, which both publish their last editions on Thursday. According to a memo released by CEO Steve Hannah, readership is actually up on the west coast, but advertising has been "abysmal."
