.Obama Taps Oakland Activist for Green Jobs Post

President Obama has named Oakland activist Van Jones to be a sort of green-jobs czar for the White House. Jones will begin advising the president on March 16 on a range of green issues, from climate change to renewable energy. Jones is a well-known author, environmentalist, and human rights activist who founded Green for All, a nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income workers get a leg up in the green-tech world. He’s also the second prominent Oaklander to land a spot in the Obama administration. Attorney Tony West had his confirmation hearing today for a high-ranking position in the Justice Department. Will Ron Dellums be the third?
