With more than 5,600 entries on topics big (homelessness) and small (farmers’ market tips and tricks), Oakland Wiki (OaklandWiki.org) is an invaluable local resource. But, like Wikipedia itself and the constellation of city wikis that it begat (not to mention the internet at large), it’s at its best when it’s written and edited by more than just a relatively small group of people. To that end, the operators of Oakland Wiki are holding a series of edit parties — the next of which will be at the César Chávez branch of the Oakland Public Library (3301 E. 12th St., Oakland) — at which the general public is invited to get together to create and update entries on their communities, their hobbies, or anything they have particular knowledge about. No computer (or editing) experience necessary.
