Now that the San Francisco Chronicle has caught the Oakland Police Department losing a critical interview with a witness in the Chauncey Bailey murder case, the brass have admitted their blunder. Shortly after Bailey was killed, the cops interviewed a woman who apparently slept with Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV on the night before the murder, and she said Bey gloated about the killing. But the cops in charge of the investigation either lost or buried the interview, and officials only discovered two months ago. Yesterday, OPD officials admitted that the failure to keep track of the interview, much less give it to the District Attorney's office, wasn't exactly their finest hour. If this blunder somehow ruins the chance to prosecute anyone for Bailey's killing, and heads don't roll at the Department down to the sergeant level, we recommend selling your house and leaving Oakland immediately. We hear it's quite the fad in any case.
