Nortec Collective: Bostich + Fussible

When: Fri., Dec. 19, 9 p.m. 2008

Dance music has always had a big tent global tilt to it that's not only had room for Brits like the Chemical Brothers and trans-Atlantic peers Moby and Beck, but France's Daft Punk and the pan-cultural Afro Celt Sound System. The pool of producers who make up Nortec Collective expands these international boundaries by way of Tijuana with a delightfully eclectic flavor of electronica that is a true mash-up of cultures and sounds -- the squeezebox and two-step rhythms of norteño music fused with Bambataa-like vocoders and ginormous block-rockin' beats. Producers Bostich and Fussible will be bringing all this and more to the glo-stick wielding masses at the Independent (628 Divisadero St., San Francisco) on Friday, Dec. 19. 9 p.m., $18, $20.
