Sometimes the only people who can help us make sense of our current reality are those from our past. In his latest novel, Subtle Bodies, San Francisco-born, Oakland-raised author Norman Rush presents an honest and comical story about how a group of college friends cope with reuniting under an unexpected and unfortunate circumstance nearly twenty years after graduation. Although Rush’s previous works were based on his experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Botswana, Subtle Bodies is a more accessible novel that makes us question how our relationships with others are intimately connected to our relationship with ourselves. Join Rush as he reads from Subtle Bodies, his first published work in a decade, at Mrs. Dalloway’s (2904 College Ave., Berkeley).
