When: Fri., Sept. 13, 6-9 p.m. 2013
What could be a spookier way to spend Friday the 13th than a nighttime walk through a dark forest? Okay, the Chabot Space & Science Center’s (10000 Skyline Blvd., Oakland) night hikes aren’t actually all that creepy, but it’s easy to let your imagination run away with you on one of the scariest nights of the year. An experienced hiker and a Chabot educator will lead the two- to five-mile trail walk in Roberts Regional Park and discuss the natural environment and what’s up in the sky as well. Make sure to stop at the lookout points for gorgeous views of the Bay Area. After the hike, gaze up at the stars through the center’s telescopes or take a tour of the Telescope Makers Workshop.
