Night Birds

When: Fri., Aug. 3, 9:30 p.m. 2012

The snarky surf-punk sound unleashed by New York-New Jersey four-piece Night Birds is a furious nod to canonical So-Cal Eighties outfits like Agent Orange and The Adolescents, so it’s fitting that the band would wrap up its two-week West Coast tour in California. The group — whose members are perhaps as passionate about eating pizza as playing fast-paced punk — is touring with a new LP from Grave Mistake Records, and is also included on Adeline Records’ new comp, The Thing That Ate Larry Livermore. Catch Night Birds live with locals Sharp Objects, Ruleta Rusa, and Bad Coyotes on Friday, Aug. 3, at the Hemlock Tavern (1131 Polk St., San Francisco). 9:30 p.m., $7; or with Sharp Objects and Bad Coyotes on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records (420 40th St., #5, Oakland) at 3 p.m. Saturday’s show will be followed by a gig at 924 Gilman (924 Gilman St., Berkeley) with Bobby Joe Ebola & the Children MacNuggits, Neon Piss, No Mistake, and The Marshmallows. 7 p.m., $8. 924Gilman.org
