New Year's Eve Dinner at eVe

Incorporating traditional good-luck symbols, husband-and-wife chefs Christopher and Victoria Laramie devised a five-course New Year's Eve dinner that they will serve at eVe (1960 University Ave., Berkeley) on Friday, Dec. 31. Its components include longevity-promoting black-eyed peas, prosperity-promoting persimmon and pumpernickel, and allegedly lucky black truffles and bananas - along with oysters, scallops, parsnips, and quail. 5:30-10 p.m., $70.
