Welcome the New Year in local, seasonal, sustainable gourmet fashion at Origen (2826 Telegraph Ave., Berkeley), where co-owners/co-chefs Trace Leighton and Daniel Clayton are serving a special five-course holiday prix-fixe menu on Saturday, Dec. 31. Evincing Origen's courageous and inventive "farm-to-fork" ├ęclat, the menu's options include lobster-and-cheese purses over butter-stewed quince, squash gnocchi in braised duck ragu with house-made mascarpone, scallop and avocado ceviche with pomelo, watermelon radish, and house-made flatbreads, with a complimentary sparkling-wine toast at midnight. 5:30 p.m., $65.
